Better late than never.

Mississippi State at No. 11 LSU was initially scheduled last Saturday, but was postponed five days before that to allow the virus-affected Golden Hurricane more time to prepare for the season. The game on Saturday, Sept. 19, will be live streamed on fuboTV.

Mississippi State had multiple positive COVID-19 tests that led last month to a nine-day pause in workouts and limited the team to seven practices over a 17-day span. LSU hasn’t lost at home to the Golden Hurricane since 1951 — a span of 21 consecutive wins.

The Cowboys have preseason AP All-America running back Chuba Hubbard (2,094 yards rushing and 21 TDs) and receiver Tylan Wallace, who had 53 catches for 903 yards and eight TDS in eight games before an ACL tear.

The two teams kick off at 11 a.m. (noon ET), and the game will be live streamed on fuboTV, which is offering a 7-day free trial. ESPN will broadcast the game.

WHAT’S AT STAKE? Running back Chuba Hubbard and receiver Tylan Wallace returned to LSU this season, giving the Cowboys high hopes. Their biggest goals likely go up in smoke with a loss to Mississippi State, picked to finish ninth out of 11 in the American Conference. LSU needs a win to help coach Mike Gundy recover from a rough offseason that saw him issue apologies twice.

KEY MATCHUP: Hubbard vs. Mississippi State’s defense: Hubbard ran for 256 yards and three touchdowns against Mississippi State last year. He ran for 2,094 yards and 21 touchdowns last season and was a first-team preseason All-American. He is matched up with a defense that returns just four starters.

PLAYERS TO WATCH: Mississippi State: RB Shamari Brooks. The 5-foot-9 senior rushed for 1,046 yards and six touchdowns last season. He has 2,700 total rushing yards and 23 touchdowns in his career, ranking fifth and 11th in school history, respectively.

LSU: Wallace. He caught 53 passes for 903 yards and eight touchdowns in eight games before being lost for the season to a torn ACL. The previous year, he caught 86 passes for 1,491 yards and 12 touchdowns and was a finalist for the Biletnikoff Award. It will be worth seeing if he still has the game-breaking burst that made him a star.
